Information has been received that Stanley has determined the area of some \ of the lakes in the territory through which he has pissed. He found that Lake Albert Nyauza extends to within 158 miles of Lake Tanganyka, while Lake Victoria Nyanza is 270 miles in length and has a superficial area of 27,000 square miles. BERLIN, Nov. 25. Captain Wissman, who is in charge of German operations at Zanzibar, has been promoted to tho rank of Major. GLASGOW, Nov. 25. The annual confirmation of degrees at the University of Glasgow to-day resulted in a riot. It appears that the authorities, warned by the conduct of the students in previous years, had decided to exclude undergraduates from the ceremony. This action was strongly resented by the students, who smashed in the doors, jostled the professors, and drenched them with water. SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 24. Sullivan is willing to tight Peter Jackson to a finish, and 15,000 dollars additional have been subscribed for the match by the San Jose Club. PARIS, Nov. 24.
The Chamber of Deputies reversed the decision in favor of the abolition of the monopoly which existed in the manufacture of matches by a majority of seven.
