The Moonstruck Candidate.
Sik, — Holding as I do that a quotation from some English author can be found applicable to almost every emergency in life, and perhaps to every individual, I have spent some time in searching for one which will fitly describe one of the candidates for the coming election. To apply it one must have a fair knowledge of the antecedents, and no less the perpetual protestations of the candidates, and having that knowledge, as all your readers should, I leave it to them to say to whom the quotation is applicable, and how apt it is. Thus :— He revelled 'neath the moon, He slept beneath the sun, He lived a life of going to do, And died with nothing done. I am, ttc, Viator.
Ifc is estimated that by the end of t!io inoiitli the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants of New Zealand will be 2000 strong.
