Pattison, Minister without portfolio, who resigned his seat in the Cabinet iv October last, has rejoined the Ministry as Colonial Treasurer. The Hon. John Donaldson, Postmaster-General, has resigned his portfolio, but will remain in the Cabinet without portfolio. Mr Chas. Powers, member for Burrum, has been appointed Postmaster-G eneral. ADELAIDE, Nov. 14. Dr Cockburn, Premier, in replying to Sir Henry Parkes, says that while he does not wish to dispute as to the best method j of approaching federation, which is much to be desired, he thinks it will only be necessary for New South Wales to join the I Federal Council in order to have the subject discussed by a thoroughly representative body. Mr De Bavay, who in his analysis of the Van Yean water reported the discovery of typhoid bacillus, admits that he placed typhoid germs in the Van Yean water samples sent to Professor Ivutz, in order te test the latter's ability. In his report on the samples last night Professor Kntz reported that there was no trace of microbes.

The Sunday Newspaper Prevention Bill, which passed the House of Assembly on the 7th instant, has passed through the Legislative Council.
