DETERMINED SUICIDE.

Dunedin, to-day. A man named Arthur Empson, committed suicide in a most determined manner at Caversham yesterday. He refused a cup of tea in bed from his wife, knocking it out of her hand. He then got up, and went into the kitchen, where he took up a bread knife and made a wound in his throat. She ran out for assistance, when he appears to have taken a combined knife and saw, and used the latter to make a horrible wound. A neighbor was so terrified that he went off for the police and medical assistance, and on his return the man was dead. Empson had a station for some years at Rangilata, Canterbury. He lias been in Western Australia and only came to Dunedin a few weeks ago. He has shown signs of insanity for some time, but his wife thought she could control him.
