When the oval was kicked off there waa a fair crowd on the ground, bat not nearly bo many as the previous Saturday. Tho following were tha teams :— Natives— Full back : Nehu ; three-quarters ; W. Watbrick, J. Warbrick, and Gage ; halves : F. Warbnck, and Ihamaira ; forwards : Ellison, Taiaroa, Anderson, Alf. Warbrick, Wynyard, Stuart, Karaurin, Reni, and Wynyard.— Hawke's Bay— Full back : Jaa. Fleming ; three-quarters: J. Uoss, Wi Hape, and Percy ; halves : Dempsey and Norm ; wings : Morrison and Patterson; forwards: Hawkins, Childs, Peacock, MacKenzie, Symonds, Juo. Fleming, and Moore. The Reps won the toss and kicked with the wind. Messrs Logan and Potts acted as nmpireß, and Mr Harden was refereo. Hawkins captained the Repe, and J. Warbrick the Natives. When the ball was kicked off Dempsey caught ie and made a nice run through the Natives. One or two nico packs ensued, and the Reps got the oval down the field, Percy eventually making a pot at goal, but it did not go over the bur. When the ball was kicked off Ross made a nice little run, and Morrison followed suit. Just afterwards J. Warbrick got away, but was brought down. Robs got a mark and sent the ball well down. Warbrick securing ib and making a run, eventually throwing to Gage who was grassed by Percy. The Reps got the leather into the native territory where a hob tuasle took place, but the natives soon forced their way to the centre play, Gage made an excellent run, but was brought down by Percy. Patterson and Childs made a good dribble, and J. Warbrick made a slashing run. The passing of the natives at this point was excellent. Gage got a try, but the ball was ordered back to the umpire. Just after Smilor rushed in and got a try, from which J. VVarbrick kicked a goal amidst loud applause. Natives, 3 points ; Keps, nil. Home good play was witnessed when tho ball was kicked off, Smilerproving a regular whale. He made one or two capital runa and caused great amusement. Hawkins got a mark, but gained no advantage. J. Warbrick made one of the best runs of the day, and passed everybody, touching down behind the Rep goal. He took the kick himself, and landed a beautiful goal. Natives, 0 points ; Reps, nil. When the ball was again set along the field, J. Warbriok made another run to his brother, F. Warbrick secured the bull wheu he was collared, getting a beautiful try. No goal was kicked from it. Natives, 7 points ; Reps, nil. A strong wind was still blowing when they changed ends. J. Ross made a good run, and W. Warbrick afterwards got a mark. After a little further play the natives were forced down. T. Morrison made a nice run when the oval was again in motion, and threw to Childs who parsed, but a native secured ib and prevented a score. After a forco down on either aide Karauria got a mark from which J. Warbrick kicked a goal. Natives, 10 points ; Reps, nil. Immediately afterwards Smiler rushed in and got » try. No goal resulted. Natives, II points ; Reps, nil.
