A few days ago two ladies* one of whom carried a baby, entered a Boston carpet store and signified their desire to look at some carpets. It was a very warm day ; but the salesman cheerfully showed roll after roll, until the perspiration literally streamed from every pore in his body. Finally, one of the ladies asked the other if she did not think it was time to go. " Not quite," was the answer of her companion, and then in an undertone, she addoci, " Baby likes to see him roll them out, and it is not time to take the train yet." Slimiuns and his young wife had josff completed their firet quarrel. ** I wish I was dead." she sobbed. " I wish I was, too," ho blubbered. '"Then I don't wish I was," shti replied, and the war continued.
