Auckland, to-day. •■"'■■' Messrs Hunter and Nolan report : — ' Horses : Dullness characterised the market last Friday. The usual number were submitted by auction. We quote hacks from £4 18s to £10 ; cross country horses from £12 to £10 ; medium drau-ilits £14. Wool, hides and skins : A limited quantity was pitched at the Durham yards on Tuesday and tho demand was good. Prime ox hides 4kl per lb,cow hides from 3hd to 3§d, skins 2s 7d to 3s Gd, greasy wool in bales Gjd to 6£d per lb. Fat cattle : There was rather a short muster at the market yards on Tuesday, and prices remained at previous week's quotations. Fat sheep : Below an average number were yarded on Tuesday, and maintained previous week's quotations at per stone, although 12s was the highest price obtained for wethers. Lambs were also in limited numbers, selling at from 43 to 11s Gd. Pigs were in moderate supply but at low values. [special telegrams.] The Financial News considers that the present is an inopportune time to allow the colonies to deplete gold reserves, and it complains of the way in which Victoria is spreading her loans. — Eighty-five per cent, of the subscriptions to the Victorian loan at present in the market will be payable on 10th March. The loan is quoted at a premium of 1| per cent. Tho Standard considers the prospects of the loan is clouded, owing to the strong opposition being made agrinst it, and to the depression, but the brokers are of opinion that the loan will probably be taken up at a price slightly over the minimum. — Victorian stocks have receded one per cont. — The Melbourne meat by the Cuzco is selling at 4Ad per lb, and that from Sydney at 4d per pound. The first shipment of Texan frozen mutton and beef is realising 3id. — The wheat market by weather and business has been further curtailed.
