The Gazette notifies that' candidates for certificates of competency as master or mate arc now required to pass an examination as to their ability to distinguish colors. This applies to all persons serving in or about to aervo in the mercantile mariue. Any failure to pass the color test debars a person from obtaining a muster or a mate's certificate.
