The Australia left Auckland at (j p.m. on Tuosday, calling at Uick'a Hay at S p.m. yesterday and Tokomaru at 4 a.m. this morning arriving as above She experienced light S.E win-Is across the Bay of Fleuty with fine weather. She goes on South ihu eveniug, the last launch leaving the wharf at 7. The s.s. Te Anau is due fiom Sydney and Auckland at about 1 p.m. to-morrow. She goes on South in the evening, the last launch leaving the wharf at 7 p.m. The sB. Southern Cross arrives from South early to-niorrow morning. She goes on to Auckland at 7 a.m. The brigantine Enterprise (Capt. A. Bell) sailed this morning for Mercury Bay. The Gazette notifies that' candidates for certificates of competency as master or mate arc now required to pass an examination as to their ability to distinguish colors. This applies to all persons serving in or about to aervo in the mercantile mariue. Any failure to pass the color test debars a person from obtaining a muster or a mate's certificate. The fee for each examination is fixed at 2s 6d. Mbldouunk, to-day. The Union Co. 'a s.s. Manapouri left yesterday afternoon for the Bluff. . Auckland to-day. The a s. Kalm arrived from Giaborne at 1.35 p.m. yesterday. 'I lie. s.s. Te Anau sailed for Gisborne at 12.45 p.m. to-day.
