LONDON, Jan. 28.
Sir F. Dillon Bell, Agent-Gonetal for New Zealand, in a letter to the Tunes says it is uncertain if New Zealand will place a loan on tho market before June next. At a meeting at the Mansion House the question of State immigration, Sir Saul Samuel, Agent-General for New South Wales, and Mr Gairick, AgentGeneral for Queensland, stated that the colonies preferred themselves to Select the class of people sent out. Sir Daniel Cooper, formerly of Sydney, haa been appointed Acting-Commissioner for New South Wales at the Indian and Colonial Exhibition. It is the intention of Queensland to work a quartz battery at the Exhibition. Sir Saul Samuel denies a statement that New South Wales will shortly place a loan of two millions on tho market. In an article on the new Victorian loan the Standard states the brokers consider the price dear. The loan is quoted at 2] premium. Victorian stocks are firmer. The Spanish Government have notified that they are not prepared to renew parleying on the Anglo-Spanish treaty. A Melbourne tramway loan of £500,000 at 4c per cent, has been placed on the market Tenders are to be opened on Feb. 4. The minimum is fixed at 104.
