FRAUDULENT BANKRUPTS
ONE SENT TO GAOL. Palme bston North, to-day. At the District Court yesterday a bankrupt named William Bond was sentenced by Judge Rawson to one month's imprisonment without hard labor. The assignee's report showed that he had when insolvent contracted debt 3 and spent money on drink and billiards. His Honor considered the debtor had been guilty of unjustifiable extravagance. Dunedin*, Jan 27. At the Bankruptcy Court yesterday Mr Justice Williams suspended tho order of discharge for 12 months of Robert Driver, notwithstanding that the creditors had signed a requisition recommending the granting of his immediate discharge. In the case of J. W. Parlin, the bankrupt's landlord chimed to be allowed to prove in the estate for £180, damages sustained by reason or' tho disclamer of a lease by tho Official Assignee, who had refused to receive the proof. His Honor fixed £140 as the damages, and allowed the landlord to prove for that amount.
