Thk minutes of the provioua meeting were read and coufirmed, and the outgoing and incoming correspondence read. Odtgoinu Correspondence. — T.o Mr. H. H. Elliot, forwarding fees for copios of the grants for the foreshore. — To the Collector of Customs, requesting him not to allow the lauding of cargo but at the authorised wharf. — To the agent of the Union S.S. Company, asking him, in accordance with tne by-law, to forward to the wharfinger copies of the manifests. Inoomino Correspondence. — From the Marine Department, forwarding the report for the year ending 31st March. — From Mi. D. Johnson, intimating he could not interfere with tiie landing of any goods at any other than the authorised wharf, excepting dutiable goods. — From the Marine Department, askiug for a return of improvements in the port. Acknowledged ; suoh return to he compiled when any improvements are made. — From Mr. J. Druinmond, stating that as no reason for his dismksal from the Board had been assigned, and no charge brought against his professional character, he thought such dismissal harsh. It was ordered that a letter be sent to Mr. Drummond informing him that as they had thought fit to dispense with his services in the Borough Cornell, they had done likewise as a Harbor Bor.rd. — From the same, stating that as the plans for tho new wharves had been altered, it would be necessary to register the amended plans. It was decided not to have such plans registered, tho Board being of opinion that it was now too late, as the contract had been let. — From the same, stating that in terms of his engagement with the Board, which was LSO per annum for the first three months, after which ihe remuneration was to be increased in proportion to the amount of work done, he was justly entitled to some consideration. The writer set out what work had been done before the Board was formed, and after such formation. It was decided that the Board do not take the matter Into consideration, being of opinion I that the account had been allowed to stand over too long. Paymbntjj.— The usual monthly payment of L 5 58 to the wharfinger was passed. Forerhori: Grants. — The Secretary stated thero had been no reply to the letter he had sent down for copies of the grants, nor had any reply been received from Mr. McDauald, M.H.R., informing the Board why the foreshore grants had not been signed. Public Works Committee.— Messrs. Hepburn and Townley were appointed members of the P.VV. Committee, in the place of Members Whiuray and Ch.riap, retired. Enoinker, — The appointment of the new engine^ M.r tyiyaolds, was confirmed by the Board , Salary, LSO.
