Deception is a bay mare, bred in Auckland by Mr. Hargraves, where she was very successfully raced, which induced her owner to take her to the Nelson Meeting of 1800. Here she took all before her, beating 10, Ultima, Miss Rowe, and otfie s, in everything she started fur. She was taken to Australia, where she rau very well. He has grand action all round, and with training will.go at a great pace, and is in every way one of the best horses ever imported for getting weight-carrying huntera, steeplechase horses, stepping carriage aud buggy horses, and hacks up to any weight, descriptions of horses which are getting extremely scarce and valuable, and for these qualities was expressly selected by his present owner for the benefit of breeders in the North Island. Prickwillow was selected in England by Jlajo Barlow for Messrs. Brown and Hill, of Canterbury, at a cost of nearly 600 guineas, which will give an idea of the value put upon the blood.
