Tim Day. A handsome pulpit was presented by Bishop Stuart to St. John's Church in memory of tho late Bishop Williams. Tt was used for the first time on Sunday morning, when the Bishop of Waiapu preached from it. The Church wrs beautifully decorated. The Napirr tire brigade gave an unusually brilliant pyrotechnic display on Saturday night, terminating with the legend in fireworks " A Merry Christina* and Happy New Year." The Boxing Day Races at Hastings yesterday was largely attended ; the weather was fine but exceedingly hot.
