December 23. O'Donnovau, formerly v corresj>on<lent of the London Daily News with the Russian-Met v expedition, has been sentenced to six months' | imdrisonment for publicly slandering the Sultan. Lord Duft'erin, Urn British Minister, is interceding for him with the Porte. The Russian Government is opposing tho settlement arrived at between the of delegates foreign bondholders and the Ottoman Financial Commission for tho payment of the Turkish debt., oh tho ground that tho same pledges certain new revenues of tho Turkish Empire.
