Atalanta has been one of the most successful performers on tho New Zealand Turf. At 4 years old won the Oamaru J. C. Handicap, and ran second to Glengarry in Dunedin J. 0. Handicap ; at 5 years won Free Handicap at Christchurch ; at Timaru won South Canterbury J. C Handicap, Tradesman's Handicap, and Forced Handicap ; at G years won a number of races including Handicap at Dunstan. At the sale of Mr. Delamaine's stud, 13th November, 1877, she brought 250 guineas. PARTHENOPCEUS, a Dark Bay, rising 7 years old, is a splendid specimen of the Thoroughbred Horse, uniting in a remarkable degree Symmetry with Strength, being thus admirably adapted to get weiglit-carrying Hacks as well as Race Horses. He was sold at tho above mentioued sale for 350 guineas. Possessing the celebrated Traducer blood of his sire, and from his dam the blood of the still more celebrated Sir Hercules, he presents a combination of the most fashionable and successful strains in the Southern Hemisphere. The Australasian in speaking of the Sir Heroules blood remarked: "No family has gained such a reputation as that which descends frwm the Colonialbred Sir Hercules. In contests of every description the representatives of this line had achieved more than their share of popular triumph."
