WAIROA.
This Day Wi Pere addressed the Wairoa Natives on Monday last. He sent the bellman round to where the Native Land Court was sitting to take the Natives away, offering qans of beer. Judye Heale said if the Native suitors left the Court he would adjourn it sine die. Wi Pero, when addressing the Natives praised Messrs McDonald and Rees, and the Land Company. The Native chiefs Toha Hapimana and Areta Apetu said they disagreed strongly from Mr Rees and the Land Company, and had made up their minds to vote for Tainonna. Mr McDonald's meeting here was ?ery rowdy. Ho wished swaijsmen could have equal electoral priveleges with the old settlers, which he called true liberty. He urired the workim; classes not to identify themselves with their employers. A vote of confidence was moved, and a vote of thanks as an amendment. The chairman said he was unable to decide which had it, as the numbers appeared equal. The meeting separated with cheers for Locke, answered by cheora for McDonald. The Land Court will finish here next week. The weather ia very stormy, a heavy Southerly gale blowing.
