McDONALD'S SUPPORTERS.
[To the Editor of the n**Alv.] Sir, — The show >.f h<ui<l9 no much in favor of Mr. McDonald at the nomination has been satisfactorily accounted for by Mr. W. K. McLean. That gentleman told myself, and doubtless has informed others, that no importance I could be attached to the magic number " 47 " as it was very easy to secure a muster of " pitU-pot-men." Mr. M'Lean no doubt, has very many opportunities of seeing these " pint-pot-men," the nature of his business compelling him (pombly against his will) to enter those pluces where working men obtain their pints of beer. There were many, however, who in addition t« being " pint pot-men," possess interests in the district, far and away beyond those of certain aristocratic whiskey drinkers. Mr. McLeui may not know that Englishmen like their beer, and a working man who cares to take from a pewter vessel is as sensitive about being accused of following a pint of beer as others would be if it were stated they were selling their votes for the benefit of their pockets. I am, &c, John Cardinbr Ukn»krmon.
