i Electoral Notices ; To tho Electors of the S&st Coast Electoral District. f~^\ ENTLEMEN,— I beg to announce i \JC to you my intention of ooliciting j your support at the forthcoming election. ; If returned to represent you in Parliament, 1 shall always endeavour, ns hitherto, to procure justice for the Ea«t Coa*t District, in the matter of public works t -xpeuditure, and advocate its , claims of hay« money placed on the estimates for the construction of roads and bridges, and especially the mum artorinl ones. | 1 shall ur^o upon the Miniitry the desirability of altering the procedure in 1 dealing with native lands to facilitate sub-divis on, by appointing a resident Lnnd Court Judge for the district until ' i>uch time as the work may be com- ! pleted ; and generally, to remove the ! restrictona which at present hamper the Europeans and natives in dealing with such lands. The .settlement or the country can never be properly effected until the wnstu lands of the Crown are placed unde the control of the local bodies, ; and shall support a bill to effect the ' same. I As 1 have already stated at the various eatres of your district where I have had the pleasure of addressing you, I am opposed to the Property Tax. I am in favour of rating the Crown and native l><nri«; and generally, of bringing the natives under the same laws and obligations as the Europeans, and will support an intelligent, workable I measure having tlmt object in view. In the matter of local government I am strongly opposed 4o Provincialism I and all us ad v oca tea, and favor an : enlargement of either the County or | Road Board system, but consider there : should be only one taxing local body. I am a Liberal in principle, and shall always support the Liberal Party in pnssing measures in accordance with those principles. Gentlemen, if by your support I am ' again honored with a seat in Parliament, ' I shall always be found an earnest supporter of <ur intt tests, and a staunch advocate for the outlying districts.
