August 17. The President's condition is slightly improved, still he is unable to take solid food, but is able to swallow beef tea, with which it is hoped his strength may be maintained. NEW YORK. August 18. The yield of the spring wheat crops show a serious deficiency. A bulletin issued this morning reports the President's health rallying, and his condition greatly improved.
