NAPIER,
This Day. The collision which occurred on Saturday between the Boojum and the Sir Donald, steamer, happened as the latter was coming in with cargo from the Ringarooma, and the Boojum was going out with passengers for the south. The Boojum perceived the Sir Donald too late to prevent the collision, and struck her amidships, making a large hole about Bft. deep, and starting her planks on each side. The Sir Donald commenced filling, but steamed on to the bank where the Silver Cloud was stranded, and by means of ropes was kept from heeling over. She filled, however, up to her decks. A lighter was got alongside, and the cargo, consisting principally of sugar, was taken out, and the water was then got out, aud having been temporarily patched u,p, she was taken over to the cattle wharf yesterday morning. The cargo, which was much damaged, belonged principally to Ward. op it Co., the vessel being owned by Kinross & Co., and insured in the National. The cargo was insured in several offices, but it is understood that claims will be made both on account of the cargo and vessel against the Union S.S. Co. The Boojum sustained no injury, and proceeded at once with the passengers to the Ringarooma. An enquiry will be held as soon as arrangements can be made.
