AUCKLAND. This Day. At the Orakei Maori Parliament on londay, the chief Paul spoke favourbly of To Whiti. He said his desire •as not to make laws, but to bring lie grievances of natives before the louse of Representatives at Wellingon. A proposal was made to. send epresentatives to England ; but a lotion by Mete Kingi to leave the latter with Paul was carried. A resolution was passed condemnng thfi action of the Government in oufiscating the hinds of loyal natives. Vith reference to Land Courts, it /as resolved that the natives should irst hold a meeting respecting the uuls to be sold, and that the decisions f those meetings be taken to the jßiids Courts for legalisation. With egaril to Maori members of Parliancnt it was resolved they did more larni than good, and ought not to be cnt to Wellington. There were 130 latives present. Colonel Whitmore was a passenger or Sydney by the Rotomnliana yeseiday. The natives have decided to allow he Native Minister to unveil the iVaitangi monument. The Harbor Board passed a resoluion asking the Government to permit ilr. Blackett, C.E., to report on the lock site during his stay here. A man named Clans Moeler, who s prospecting on Crown lands at iVhangaroa, states he has discovered [ valuable seam of coal. Some Mormon elders attended the )rakei Parliament yesterday, and .ttempted unsuccessfully to proselyist; the natives. The Rev. Shirleton Baker, left r esterdiiy for Tongoti, to see the CHRISTGHURCH. This Day. The grape crop at Akaroa is almost otally destroyed by phyloxera.
