The Board of Governors of the Canterbury College have requested the Committee of the School of Agriculture to consider the question of establishing sericulture in the school, with the view of introducing it as a Colonial industry. A man, named Littlecott was brought down from Wellington last week, charged with stealing a ring from a man, named Palmer. Littleeott, however, proved that he was in ' the Akaroa Hospital when the theft was committed, and the Magistrate discharged him. He then urged that the case was one of great hardship, and ought to be allowed his expenses. Tho Bonch admitted that the accused had been hardly dealt with, and offered to order the payment of his expenses back to Wellington. Mr. Desborough, of Southbridge, has sent Home a shipment of butter, prepared with a Glesbury <fc Go's, preservative. Two months ago a package of butter so preserved was made up, and will be opened by the Agricultural Association in June. The result of the experiment is awaited with much interest.
