BRIGHAM YOUNG. THIS celebrated cross-country Horse, whose pedigree is well-known, will stand this season at TE ARAI FERRY. BRIGHAM YOUNG is a very powerful rich brown horse, rising 9 years ; bred by Quinlivan, of Wanganui. He was got by Traducer, ont of Missie, by Nutworth, imported grand dam by Riddlesworth, the wiuner of the Two Guineas. He also ran second for the Derby in England. Riddlesworth is the sire of Dainty Ariel, Doch a Dhurris, Malaga, and old Volunteer, one of the best cross-country horses in the Colony. When a 4-year old, Brigham Young ran his maiden race in the Wanganui Hurdle Race. Among the horses engaged in this race was Wairarapa. He afterwards won the Napier and Wanganui Hurdle Race. Victor was the winner of the Steeplechase in Wanganui, and the Wellington Hurdle Race Madora ia a great winner from the South, having won a great many cross-country races. There were eight others started. This was a fast race from the start, Pat M'Koy winning it on G .zelle, Brigham Young second. Two months after, Brigham Yoang ran for the Grand Steeplechase in Wanganui ; 14 horses started. A very exciting race ensued, several of the horses coming to grief, and two being killed. Here Brigham Young showed himself again to be a true son of Traducer, being a raw colt, 4 years old, and winning the Wanganui Grand Stfieplehose against 13 of the best horses iv the Island. TERMS :— Single Mares, £3 10s. ; two or or more mares tho property of the same owner as per agreement. Groom's fee, 53. each mare. One month's paddocking free, after which 3s. per week will be charged. All fees to be paid on the removal of mares, after notice of stinting. THIS thoroughbred horse, by Pacific, out of an imported Arabian mare, will run with his mares this season in my paddocks at Toanga. Terms — £2 2s each mare. Paddocking free for one month ; after that 2s 6d per week will be charged. The Clydesdale Draught Stallion YOUNG LORD GLASGOW Will stand this season at Toanga. HE is a low-set, powerful Draught Stallion, stands about 16£ hands high, and is perfectly staunch in harness. Young Lord Glasgow took the first prize at the Hawke's Bay Agricultural Show held at Hastings in 1874, and Ist prize in Poverty Bay in 1878. Terms — £3 3s each mare, two or more mares as per agreement. Paddocking free for one month ; after that 2s 9d per week will be charged. All fees and charges must be paid before the removal of mares. King's farm, MAKAURI, the Magnificent Entire TERENGA. rpERENGA is a beautiful dark chesJL nut, and stands 16 hand** 3 inches. He is sound as a bell, thoroughly goodtempered, and has proved himself a certain foal-getter. He is by Ravensworth (sire of Guy Fawkes and Papapa), out of Phoebe, one of the grandest mares New Zealand ever produced. Terenga's dam traces j back to the celebrated Sir Hercules, and ho himself shews a quality not to I be surpassed. (The full pedigree wil shortly be published. Phcebe is by Sir Hercules — Woodstock by Theorem. Ravensworth is by Touchstone — dam Fair Jean by Vereulam. Terenga took first prizes in Hawke's Bay in 187-78 as the best stallion for improving the breed of horses in the district. One of his foals out of Hatred won two prizes as the best thoroughbred foal in 1876, and the best yearling in 1877. All Terenga's get are grand jumpers. i Terms : Single mares, £4 45. ; Owners of two or more mares to be served can make arrangements.
