HORTICULTURAL AND FLORICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Committee of the Poverty Bay Horticultural and Floricultural Society was held last evening, Mr. George Stevenson in the chair. The following resolutions were passed thereat : — That the Spring Show be held on the ! 15th December next in the Masonic I Hall. — Carried. That a sub-committee, to consist of Messrs. File and Sherriff, for the town, i and Messrs. McAra and Tutchen, be appointed to canvass for special prizes either in money or goods. That the J Battery Band be communii cated with asking whether they will play during the evening of the Show day, and [ as to the terms on which they will give their services. The Secretary to point oat that the Society is in its infancy, its subscriptions are small, its purpose of general utility and benefit and its funds minimum. *" That the next meeting be held on the Wednesday, prior to the Show day, and that sub-committees bring up their reports by such date. The purpose of such meeting to be, the election of a Management Committee and Stewards, the appointment of Judges, and the apportioning of the prize money. That the necessary steps be taken to draw the attention of intending exhibitors to the necessity of furnishing to the Secretary before the Bth December, the amount of room that each exhibitor will .require, and to : < inform' them that on application to the Secretary an exhibit number will be given to them and every separate exhibit from the one party must bear that number. The Secretary announced 121 members, and reported having omitted to notify meeting to President and Vice.
