VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
J Battery.
At the general meeting of the above corps, held last evening, at the Royal Hotel, it was arranged, on the proposition of Instructor Huddleston that the anniversary of the formation of the corps should be commemorated by holding a picnic at Rose] and Gardens, with sports athletic, calesthenic, acquatic and otherwise. The following officebearers were then elected : — Captain Porter, patron ; Mr. W. F. Crawford, judge ; Capt. Winter, starter ; Messrs. Strong and Berry, handicappers ; Committee, the officers, Sergt. -Major Featon, Sergts. Graham, Piesse and Fyson, Corpls. Ledger, Ratcliffe and Edwards, Bombardier Thompson, and Instrnotor Huddleston. It was also arranged that the proceedings on the 30th shall be wound up with a supper. The corps will parade on the day of the sports at
the drill shed, at about 9 a.m., and then inarch to the gardens, returning in the evening. Everything will be done by the Committee to make the affair a gigantic success, and as we have never yet been disappointed in anything the corps have talcen in hand we may safely augur that their efforts will be well met.
