SPECIAL MEETING. j , A Special Meeting of the Borough Council was held last evening to |decide upon the expenditure anft allocation of the loan. j | There were present jCrs. Bennett, Brown, Whinray, Townjley, Tujtchen, Clayton, Morgan aud His \Vorshjip the Mayor. j j His Worship read the Engineer's Report accompanying the Estimates. Proposed by Or. Townley, seconded by Cr. Bennett : — " That the Council proceed at once with works under the .tespeniditnre..oi);tbe_ loan. " — Carried. Proposed by Or. Piesse, .seconded by Cr. Tutchen: — " That the works under this loan be carried out under contract where practicable." — Carried. Resolved : — That the Council desires to place on record its approval of the complete and carefnl manner in which the Estimates and information asked for had been prepared by the Engineer. Proposed by Or. ■• Bennett, seconded by Cr. Clayton : — "That the Gladstone Road be metalled tho whole width of the road from Read's Quay to boundary as per Schedule A and in accordance with purport of loan. .' Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr. Brown ;-" That Gladstone Road be metalled the whole width from Read's Quay to Cobden- Street, and 20ft. wide from there to Read's (Sate, kerbing to Cannrvon Street, gravel to Riad's Gate. Clayton :— " That Mr. McLeod r be informed that the Council will take as much metal as he can deliver during the currency of : .liU contract time delivered wheresoever the Engineer may direct on the Gladstone Road, at the present rate, and that the Town 'Clerk be instructed to write asking him to notify in writing his acceptance or otherwise." — Carried.
Cr.
