The Council met yesterday at 2.30

A Committee was appointed to enquire into the ' disqualification of Taiaroa.

The Hon. J. K "Wilson moved for a return of all moneys paid to Sir Julius Yogel in everj*r way since 1879. After considerable debate, the motion was carried.

Several Bills were advanced a stage and the Council rose at 4.25.

House of Representatives.

The House met at 11 o'clock.

The Counties Act Amendment Bill was passed through Committee, read a third time, and passed. The Hon. J. Hall explained that the object of the measure was to remedy some patent defects in the present Act, but: no 'doubt the whole question of local Government would have to be considered.

Dogs Registration, Brands and Branding, and Fencing Bills were read a second time. The Joint Stock Companies' Act Amendment Bill was passed through Committee and reported with amendments. The House rose at 2 o'clock.

The House resumed at 7.30,

There was no afternoon sitting in order to allow members to attend the late George Hunter's funeral. Mr. Pyke moved a resolution condemning the report of the Railway Commissioners on , -the... ground that they arrived at conclusions on insuflicent evidence.

A long debate ensued, occupying the whole sitting. The debate was ''ultimately adjourned till Friday, and the House adjourned at 11130.
