Alexander Smith, aged . 17, was arrested yesterday, on a charge of rape on a child seven years of age. '• The man whose bqdy was found in the harbor is identified as Henry Boy ton, an elderly] ' gentleman living on his means. He resided in Nelsonstreet, an,d was accustomed to walk, on the wharf. Being near-sighted, it is supposed he fell over. A bushman named Daniel . Livingstone, attempting to get on the railway carriage at Papakura last evening, while the train was in motion, slipped. The train went over him. He was brought to the Auckland Hospital and Dr. Philson. amputated both legs below tie knee. He is progressing well. .
