House of Representatives.

The House met on Friday §k 11 o'clock. r - ': *•*• ' \ The Crown Grant Act Amendment Bill, District Roads Bill, and Counties Act Amendment;. Bill were passed through Committee, and the District Roads Bill was read a third time. The House?" rose -at 1.30. and resumed at 2.30., when it went into Committee on the Native Lands Sale Bill, up the adjournment at 5.30. On the House -resuming at 7.30. Mr. R,. Oliver . delivered the Public Works 1 Statement. At its conclusion Mr. J. Macandrew remarked that had the late Ministry remained in office the Public Works policy of 1870 would not have been interrupted. The Hon. J. Hall hoped that in course of the debate which must be taken on the subject, Mr. Macandrew would show how the Public Works policy could be continued. The fact was, that now they .knew their positionj which two years ago they did not. The House' rose at 5.15.
