(FltOM OUJH OWfl OOKHESPONDENT.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Mr. George Hunter, late M.H.R. for Wellington, is dangerously ill. A man named Yause, a saddler, was arrested yesterday charged with threatening to shoot his wife. On being searched 41 bullets were found on him, and a packet of strychnine. AUCKLAND. This Day. One of the oldest settlers in the Colony, Mr. John Co well, died on Sunday, aged 67. He accompanied Mr. Houghton in the Southern expedition, and Potatahu in his expedition to Taranaki. He was obliged to leave Kawhia with other Europeans during the first Taranaki war. Mr. Stoven, of the Bank of New South Wales, lost yesterday a roll of notes of £270 between his residence and the Bank, and has not yet recovered them. The cutter .Fairy has been wrecked a t Kawawu. No lives were lost. NEW PLYMOUTH. ■ This Day. Twelve more prisoners were brought in on Monday night. When taken out of the cells yesterday morning, they refused to go in* again, and some armed constables had to be called. Two or three serkras scuffles ensued, and only after much trouble were the Natives safely lodged again. LYTTELTON. This Day. The Resident Magistrate has decided, to recommend the GoTemment to order a Court of Survey on the barque Annabel, some seamen of which refused to go in her, declaring her unseaworthy. DUNEDIN. This Day. . Mr. Stevens, formerly Chief Officer of the Wakatipu, who was severely injured on that vessel at Sydney, died on Monday from injuries received.
