BUILDING SOCIETY.

The Building Society held its Sixth Annual Meeting at Messrs. Ratcliffe and Piesse's office yesterday. Th^ref was a numerous attendance of members. Mr. Townley, Chairman of the Board of Directors, occupied the Chair. The Chairman read tne advertisement convening the meeting. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and :confirmed. The Directors submitted their report and the statement of accounts, showing the past year's transactions, which were of a satisfactory nature. The profits enabled 10 per cent, to be allotted to shacehqlders, which, considering the dteplessJKil state of the,. money market, was considered eminently satisfactory. The Report and Balance Sheet was unanimously adopted, and a vote of thanks was accorded to the Directors and Secretary (Mr. F. J. Piesse). . There being four vacancies in the Directorate, Messrs. 0. D. Berry, J. E. &rem\, Q-: R. Moore, and S. Stevenson, were; elected as members. For the post of Trustees, Messrs. J; H. Stubbs and D. Johnston, junr., were selected, and Mr. James Browne was' re-elected Shareholders' Auditor. The meeting was brought to a close with the usual vote of thanks to the Chairman.
