[from our own correspondent.] AUCKLAND. This Day. In the Supreme Court yesterday, the embracery case against Samuel Combes, resulted in an acquittal. Judge Richmond hoped such a narrow escape would serve the prisoner a caution, and that he would never sailjso near the wind again. A petition to the General Assembly is being numerously signed, praying for an alteration in the Electoral laws so as to enable leaseholders to vote. KUMARA. This Day. Phillip Cummins, one of the men injured at Larrikins, died in the Hospital on Monday night. An inquest on his body, and that of Dennis Whelan, commenced yesterday. The body of John Whelan has not yet been recovered.
