April 26. . Mr. Gladstone is engaged in the formation of a new Ministry, and has already filled the following offices :— Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs : Earl Granville. Secretary of State for India : The Marquis of Hartington. First Lord of the Admiralty : Earl Northbrook. Lord High Chancellor : Lord Selbourne. Secretary of State for War : H. Childers. Chief Secretary for Ireland : W. E. Forster. Mr. Gladstone, as previously telegraphed will hold office as first Lord of the Treasury and Chancellor of the Exchequer. The remaining portfolios are not yet filled. It is expected that Earl Kimberly will accept the Secretaryship of State for the Colonies. Diplomatic correspondence between Lord Salisbury and Evarts, United States Secretary of State regarding Fortune Bay outrage has been published. The papers say that Lord Salisbury refused to compensate American fishermen and the dispute therefore remains unsettled.

At wool sales here to-day 9,300 bales were catalogued. Prices firmly maintained.
