NATIVE LANDS COURT.
His Honor Judge Halse, and Mr. Pomare Kingi, Assessor, Presiding ; Judge's Secretary, Mr. M. J. Gannon. Mr, Brookiug acting as Interpreter in the absence of Mr. E. S. Willcocks, who is indisposed. The rehearing of Waingaromia No. 2 was proceeded with on Tuesday morning. Henare Potae, the principal appellant, gave lengthy evidence in support of his claim. He traced his descent from Ira, who lived some 20 generations ago. The witness personally had no knowledge of the land, having never been upon it. His only knowledge of the boundaries and old cultivations he had acquired from others. He called Hoaui Te Parehuia, who gave evidence at great length, and was severely cross-examined by Messi's. Nolan, who represented Mr. Rees, and Mr. Carroll, Licensed Interpreter. It was elicited from this and succeeding witnesses that in point of fact the claim of Hone Kewa was admitted over the land, the appellants claiming to be included in the list of owners. Today Perenara te Wahaora gave evidence for the appellants, similar to that given yesterday by other witnesses, but of a more detailed character. In reply to a question put by tht Court, he admitted that he had no opposition to offer to the claim of Hone Kewa and the list of persons admitted at the former investigation before Judge Rogan. The Court rose at 12. 30, and adjourned until 10 a. m. tomorrow.
