L±Jy Telegraph.] [from our own correspondent.]
Wellington, This Day. The House met yesterday at 2.30. A long debate took place on a recommendation brought xip from the Reporting Debates Committee, recommending that reports m Hansard should be condensed. The Ministry opposed the recommendation, which was was negatived by 37 to 22. The Married Women's Property Bill was read a second time, on the understanding that it would not be pushed through this session. At the evening sitting, Sir George Grey moved the second reading of the New Zealand Constitution Act Amendment Bill. The object of which is the appointment of a Commission to adjust the represtenation m Parliament from time to time m accordance with population. The Ministry opposed the Bill, partly because it was too late m the session to deal with so important a subject, and also because it was not a matter the Government would allow a private member to put forward. The debate became warm Sir George Grey denouncing Mr. Hall, and charging him with telling untruths, a statement which he had to retract. A division took place on the motion that tho debate be adjourned — Ayes, 43 ; Noes, 29. On the question as to the time to which the adjournment should be, Mr. George moved that it be Wednesday next nfc 3 o'clock. The debate on that point was continued until the Houso was counted out.
