Maiden Plate of — soys., weight for age, distance one mile and a half ; for all maiden horses that have not won an advertised race of the value of £20, stakes and added money included (matches excepted) at the time of entrance ; entrances [ added. Start at 12.45 p.m. 2. Ladies' Purse of — soys., three miles, welter weights for age ; gentlemen riders only ; half entrances added. Start at 2 p.m. 3. County Stakes of — soys., [for all horses bred m the County of Cook, weight for age ; winner of Maiden Plate to carry 71bs. extra ; half entrances added ; distance, one mile. Start at 2.45 p.m. 4. Tradesmen's Handicap of not less than 50 soys. ; nomination of three soys. on the Bth January, 1880, and acceptance of four soys. on the 14th February, 1880, night of general entry ; weights to be declared on the 22nd January, 1880 ; lop weight not to exceed lOst. ; distance one and a half miles. Acceptances added to stakes. Start at 3.30 p.m. 5. Selling Race of not less than 30 soys. The winner to be Bold immediately after the race for 40 soys., if entered to be sold for 30 soys. allowed 71bs. ; if for 20 soys. allowed 14lbs j if fcr 10 soys. allowed 21lbs. Weight for age, 1 mile. Start at 4 p.m. 6. Hack Race of — soys for all hacks only that have never been trained, 9st. up, entrance of — sovb ; distance one mile ; half entrances added. SECOND DAY. FRIDSfcY, FEBRUARY 20th, 1880. Start at 12 o'clock. 1. Hurdle Race Handicap of not less than 50 soys. ; nomination of two soys. on the Bth January, 1880, and acceptance of three soys. on the 14th February, 1880, night of general entry ; weights to be declared on the 22nd January, 1880 ; top weight, 12st. : over eight hurdles 3ft. Gin. high ; distance two miles ; acceptances added to stakes. Start at 12.45 p.m. 2. Hack Hurdle Race of £10. For all hackß that have not been trained for this and tne Waereriga-a-hika meeting ; post entrance. Start at 2 p.m. 3. Publicans Purse Handicap of not less than 30 soys. ; nomination of two bovb. on the Bth January, 1880, and acceptance of two soys. on the night of the first day's races, when weights will be declared. Distance l£ miles. Acceptances added to stakes. Start at 2.45 p.m. 4. Turanga Stakes Handicap of 100 soys. ; nomination of five soys. on the Bth January, 1880 and acceptance of five soys. on the 14th February, 1880, night of general entry ; weights to be declared on the 22nd January, 1880 ; top weight not to exceed 9s. 81bs. Distance two miles. Acceptances added to stakes. .- Start at 3.30 p.m. 5. Consolation Handicap of — soys. ; post entrance of one boy. each ; for all beaten horses at this meeting ; distance, one mile and a distance ; half entrances added. Start at 4 p.m. 9. Hack Race of — boys.. for all hacks that have not been trained for this and the Waerenga-a-hika meeting ; post entrance, lOst. Ip ; distance, one mile ; half entrances added. CONDITIONS. First race each day to start at 12 o'clock punctually. Handicaps to be made by the Handicappers. Second horse to save his stakes, except m Hack races. No owner or nominator shall be qualified to enter a horse unless both be subscribers of at least Two Guineas to the race fund. All entries (except the Tradesmen's Handicap, Hurdle Race Handicap, Turanga Stakes Handicap, and Publicans Purse, which are to be sent m at time, and as above specified addressed as below) must be m writing and forwarded to the Secretary at the Masonic Hotel not later than 9 p.m., on the 14th February, 1880, and enclosing fee of 10 per cent, on value of stakes together with qualification. All entries to include names, description, and age or horses, and colors of riders. Jockeys to ride m colors as described m entry, otherwise subject to a peualty of one pound. The winner of any match run on the course to pay 20a. to the race funds. Five per cent, to be deducted from winnings towards Club funds. All monies to be paid previous to starting. The Poverty Bay Turf Club Rules m all other matters except as regards the Maiden Plate, will be strictly adhered to. In all cases the decision of the Stewards shall be final. CHAS. W. FERRIS, Hou.
