Napier, Saturday. Messrs Coward and Co., report as follows, under date October 24 : — No transactions of any importance have been effected during the present month. There is still a very fair demand for store cattle, but holders seem little inclined to sell. We have made many inquiries for working bullocks. . Quotations are — Cattle — Fat, 25s per 1001 b; steers, 3-year-old, £7 to £7 10s ; 2-year-old, £5 t*t £5 10s ; 18 months, £5 15s to £4 ; yearlings, £2 15s; weaners, £2 10s ; heifers, 2-year-old, £5 7s 6d 18 months, £3 12s 6d ; yearlings, £2 12s sd, weaners, £2 to £2 5s ; dairy cows, £8 to £12'; working ' bullocks (without gear), £10 to £12. Sheep— at present there is no demand for stores. Good butcher's wethers, crossbred, m wool, we quote at 15s. Horses — Heavy draught £25 to £30 ; medium, £14 to £20 ; good hacks, £20 to £25 ; medium hacks, L 9 to Ll4 ; inferior at nominal prices. Produce — Oats 4s ; wheat, 5s to os 3d (very scarce) ; potatoes, £11 ; flour, Ll4 ; bran and pollard, 7s per 1001 b ; bams and bacon, 9d to lOd ; butter, good fresh, ls per lb.
