IN accordance with Clause 340, Section 2, of the "Municipal Corporation Act, 1876," the following PROPOSED BYE-LAWS and ADDITIONS arid AMENDMENTS to existing ByeJawß, are published for general information. B- SHERIEF, Town Clerk. BYE-LAW No. 14. Directing what proportion of ' the cost of constructing footways within tho Borough shall be a chafge upon owners or occupiers of lands or buildings front ing such footways. In pursuance of the power vested m them; by Section No. 202 of the " Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and of all other powers vested m them by the said Act, the Council of the Borough of Gisborne ordain as follows, that is to aa y— 1. Where any footway shall be constructed on the side or sides of any street within the Borough of Gisborne, m accordance with j the provisions of Section 202 -of the " Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,'* one-half of the cost off constructing and repairing Such footway shall be a charge upon and shall be paid by the occupier of the lands buildings fronting on such footway. 2. For the purpose of this Byelaw,, the word " occupier " shall mean any person whose interest shall exceed a term of three years m the land occupied by him, and shall mean the owner of the land m case the interest of the actual occupier shall riot exceed such term. BYE-LAW No. 9. Additional Clause, to stand as No. 7, viz. . — " Any person or persons offending against the above Bye-Law, shall forfeit a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds (£5), for every such offence. No. 7 of present Bye-law No. 9^ to stand as No. 8. BYE-LAW No. 3. Clause 12 stands amended thus — In. the first line, after the word •" Horses," shall be added " or • cattle"; and m the second line, after the word " Borough" shall be added "except with permission ; between the hours of eight o'clock a.m., and five o'clock p.m.
