MELBOURNE. Tuesday. The directors and manager of the Provincial and Suburban Bank were arrested tv-day, but bailed- out. The robbers of the bank at Lancefield have been convicted. Lowe was sentenced to penal servitude for eight years, aud Bray to live years. SYDNEY. Wednesday. The Exhibition was opened to-day by the Governor, m the presence of the Governors of Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia, their suites, the representatives of foreign countries, and British dependencies, and a large number of notables. Tlie streets were crowded through which tue procession passed. Tue statue uf the Queen was unveiled by the Governor. The ceremony was very imposing. Lord Loftus will entertain his distinguished visitors during the week with a series of enterbamments.
