GISBORNE ROWING CLUB.

In our advertising columns will be seen a notice calling a general meeting of the members of the Gisborne Rowing Club. The officers, such, as Captain, Secretary, and Committee, are, according to the rules of the club, elected annually, and as it is intended to open a new season Dii Saturday, the 27th. instant, it is necessary to place the club on a proper footing before hand; It is to be hoped tli at all old members will attend, and that intending .subspiTbers will not lose time m sending m their names so that' they may be balloted for on this occasion. Since last, senson fresh Wood hns been brought into the place and we hope to see a, few new faces among the competing crews. The advisability or otherwise of sending a crew to pull the Napier Club will be discussed, and as Messrs. Rees, Locke, and several other gentlemen have promised cups for competition, it will no doubt cause a feeling of interest to be taken m this one of noblest of niahly sports. The success of the club during last season is fresh on the minds of the public, and it is to be hoped that with their aid a more brilliant future may await them. To the old officers of the club is due to a very large extent the success of last year, and it is gratifying to them to see their unfailing efforts bear such good fruit. We conclude by wishing the rowing men every good that they may deserve, and hope to see them as heretofore m the front on every occasion.
