Captain Barrey, a well-known character in the South Island of New Zealand, now on a visit to England, recently paid a visit to the convict Arthur Orton, at the Portsea Island Convict Prison. Captain Barrey states that he was intimately acquainted with Arthur Orton and be Castro, and he recognised the prisoner as .Tom De Castro. A proclamation appears in the Gazette, prohibiting the importation into New Zealand of Australian, native cats, whether they be known as tiger cats or by any other name. These animals are found to be very I destructive in Australia, although a rug made of their skins is even more valuable than au opossum rug.
