TO THE ELECTORS OF THE EAST COAST. r*\ ENTLEMEN,— I beg to offer myself as a Candidate for the East Coast at the ensuing Election. I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient Servant, ' , G. B. MORRIS. TO THE EAST COAST ELECTORS. ENTLEMEN,— I have the honor to inform you that, after mature consideration, I have decided to WITHDRAW myself as a candidate for the ensuing election as a member in the House of Representatives for this district. My reasons for so doing, are — 1. "That a house divided against itself cannot stand." 2. That after what I have seen and heard, I feel sure I do not possess the necessary qualifications to represent you. 3. That as I am informed this forthcoming or present session completes the usual term, so soon as it is over the usual dissolution will take place. 4. That in the interval before* dissolution, the necessary steps will have been taken to 'procure a re-distribution of seats, so that this immediate district will then be represented apart from Tauranga and Opotiki. I shall then, if circumstances permit, ask for your support. 5. I am of opinion that you cannot do better than snpport the late member, Captain Morris, for although he may not have apparently done much, I know from personal knowledge that he has done his best. I am, Gentlemen, Yours faithfully, A. F. HARDY.
