"THAT'S THE WAY THE MONEY

GOES"— " Pop goes the Weasel." [To the Editor of the Herald.] Sir, — I read with a great deal of surprise m a late paper the information of the appointment of an Interpeter to the General Assembly at a salary of £250 (!) for the Session. This would be a period of not more than 90 days, and I feel certain that there would be no difficulty m getting any local Interpreter m Wellington to do the work for £1 per diem, say at the outside £100 each Session. And here the Government have deliberately chucked away £150 per annum. If this be the boasted economy and retrenchment of the present Government, the sooner they go out the better. I trust that some member of the House will take the matter up. — Your&c., Economy.
