Captain Porter, who had received instructions from the Department at Wellington, to secure the attendarceof Tutu Nihoniho at the Supreme Court at Wellington, to give evidence m the charge against Brodie and Cooper, returned this morning by steamer, with Tuta m company. When Captain .Porter arrived at the settlement he found Tuta with his friends. Tuta was quite willing to accompany Captain Porter to Gisborne, but his friends interfered to prevent him. Some force was used. Tuta got into a room with Captain Porter,, when some of the Natives endeavored to detain Tuta. A struggle ensiled ; Captain Porter threw two of the Natives on the floor and succeeded m overcoming the third. One Native brought a gun, and threatened to shoot Captain Porter.
