NEW PLYMOUTH.

This Day. The prisoners that were committed for trial were brought from the gaol about 11 o'clock and marched through the town between a large escort of police to the Court-house. The Crown Prosecutor is prosecuting them. At Hawera ploughing was again postponded for a day. The Maoris seem to appreciate the fun of putting the Pakehas m suspense. Mr Cameron, living a mile and a half from Hawera inland, was threatened by a well-known bully, named Takorangi, of Ketionitea. Mr Cameron has sent the threatening letters to the proper authorities. Te Takai again says that he intends to continue ploughing land, but does not want to injure the settlers — his fight is with the Government. There is great indignation at Hawera at a report that men are not to be employed npon the i-ailway works immediately between that place and Cetinarai. The Government definitely agreed that men should be at once employed, and 80 men had arrived. A party of Natives, numbering about 100, arrived at Waingongoro on Sunday, ostensibly to tangi over a dead chief but it was reported that they intended ploughing at Mr. Livingstone's and at Normanby. Today they had ten pair of bullocks with them. The Natives who were turned off at Opunake made no resistance to the arrest of Ngamari. He is the chief who has on several occasions ordered the settlers off at Opunake, and who has been m many other respects troublesome.
