He had made minute enquires as to threats of burning down settlers houses, and , ascertained that only one Native said so, and that he had spoken under excitement and great anger. The Government received yesterthe following telegram from Hawera : " No sign of any ploughing parties. The settlers have nearly completed the relaying by hand of the turf tossed over by ploughs on Mr. Livingstone's lawn. "Four Natives are ploughing at Tapae. "The Natives say that Te Whiti told them to plough away till the place was full of solders, and then his power will appear."
