Rewi, before leaving, conveyed his mnks, through the Press, for the indness everywhere received by him rhile in town, It is rumored that roposals to be made by Re^i are to efine territory almost identical with he King country in which Maori uthoiity shall be supreme. That and buying and selling shall be prohibited inside thoae boundaries even f sections of the Natives desire. t, and that the land is to be inalienble, but may be leased subject to Maori laws. The proposed territory s to be ruled by Maori Magistrates. Ie estimates the land thus reserved t five million acres, and if Parliament -ccede to the scheme he guarantees o convey fee simple of the land necesary for railway and stations from iVaikato to New Plymouth. The opinion of the Press here is hat the plan must be modified. The Governor proceeded to Camridge yesterday, and was presented rith an address from the Natives. ?he Hauhaus also presented an ddress. His Excellency and party >roceeded to Fern Court.
