Polling to b*e on July 7th for the Eastern district, the nomination takes place in Napier. Mr. F. G. Hanilin is to be Returning 1 Officer. Ship owners? have resolved to make a general reduction in all classes of wages from 10 to 20 per -cent. A large Central Post and Telegraph Office is to be built here of brick. Tenders have been .invited. ;.':•■ It is stated, semi-officially, that the Government will propose an increased scale of land tax on properties valued over fifteen hundred pounds. The total contribution to the Kaitangata fund has reached £15,000.
