This Day. The "Northern Advocate states that the Government intend . to propose a £10,000,000 loan be floated in one sum. William Mulgvew, Katikati, has been brought down from Cambridge, having been committed by the R.M. thex*e for passing valueless cheques. Several weeks ago some human bones were found at Hamilton, while excavations were being made in one of the streets. On Tuesday evening further skeltons were obtained, while excavating the footpath ; they were those of an adult and child. The skeletons are in a complete state of preservation. That of the adult lay in a species of coffin. Over the little child were found a mirror, and numerous beads ; and these have been taken care of. When Rewi was at Cambridge he took a fancy to one of Sheehan's diamond rings, and Sheehan made him a present of it, saying u Now, then, Rewi, with that ring on your finger, you can see light on the darkest night. Before Sheehan and Rewi left Cambridge, an amicable understanding was come to between the contending parties. The Ngataraukawas are leaving all matters in dispute to the decision of the Court. Mr. Sheehon returned to Auckland on Tuesday night from Waikafco, and will await the arrival of the Governor. The Governor will probably visit Waikato and Thames. It is stated in Auckland that the Premier will leave Wellington for Taranaki to arrange matters. The Government propose to treat the action of the Maoris as a single trespass. News from Hikurangi states that Tawhiao is very gloomy about the posiof affairs, and says his chiefs have ruined him. He has spoken little since the meeting.
