In Chambers yesterday, Mr. Gordon Allen applied for a writ of Habeas Corpus in the case of Frederick Gleich the defaulting Adelaide bankrupt. Gleich was arrested under the provisions of the " Foreign Offenders Act, 1863," and Mr. Allen moved for his discharge from Wellington gaol on the ground that the Magistrate had no power to remand Gleich to Adelaide under the Act. As it appeared, Gleich is at present on ordinary remand for production of evidence, the judge held the application to be permature, and should not be made until the prisoner had actually been remanded to Adelaide.
